School of Visual Arts MFA in Art

How to apply:

The Master of Fine Arts Program in Art, with its emphasis on professional study, is designed for the mature individual who by previous training and study has sufficiently prepared for graduate level research and creative work. It is strongly suggested that applicants have a minimum of 12 credits of Art History at the undergraduate level. Any qualified student, who has graduated from an accredited college that offers a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or a Bachelor of Fine Arts in the area of Art or the equivalent, may seek admission.

Penn State School of Visual Arts offers a limited number of highly competitive Graduate Teaching Assistantships. Assistantships offer a monthly stipend, in addition to a Grant-in-Aid equal to full tuition plus health benefits. There are also a variety of University Fellowships and other funding opportunities for qualified applicants, as well as federal loans and work-study options. All applications received by December 15 of each year will be considered for any University Fellowships for which the applicant qualifies. Applications received by January 15 of each year will be considered for assistantships and regular admission.
