Portfolio Submission Time Periods:

New PSU Applicants:
To begin in Summer or Fall semester, portfolios must be submitted between October 10 and January 10.

To begin in Spring semester, portfolios must be submitted between September 15 and November 1.

Current PSU Students:
To change majors for Summer or Fall semester, portfolios must be submitted between January 1 and March 30.

To change majors for Spring semester, portfolios must be submitted between September 15 and November 1.

Please note: SlideRoom is only available during the dates identified above. Portfolios can not be submitted at any other time.

Portfolio Submission Instructions

1. To submit your portfolio images and written statement, please go to: http://www.psu.slideroom.com.

2. Create an account and login to SlideRoom.

3. Select your category: New PSU Applicant or Current PSU Student

New PSU Applicant - includes all of the following:
Incoming First-Year Student
• Transfer student from a non-PSU institution
• Non-degree student applying for degree status at Penn State for the first time
• Provisional student applying for degree status at Penn State for the first time

Current PSU Student - includes all of the following:
Change of Major (changing from another PSU-University Park major)
• Change of Major and Change of Campus (changing from another PSU major and PSU Location)
• Re-enrollment (former PSU student enrolling in the School of Visual Arts for the first time)
• Concurrent Degree (planning to complete Art major as one of two concurrent degrees)
• INART student requesting permission to take ART classes

4. Upload your digital images and written statement.
The Portfolio Review Committee is interested in seeing 10-12 works that represent both the breadth and depth development of your art and/or design work. Consider visual, conceptual, and technical proficiency in selecting your best and most recent work. The content of the portfolio may include digital images of drawings, paintings, prints, photographs, graphic designs, sculpture, jewelry/metalwork, ceramics, video art, and other media. Videos should only be submitted to present performance art, other time-based artwork, or large-scale installation artworks. Do not videotape two and three-dimensional artworks.

All applicants must submit one short personal statement (maximum 400-500 words) by responding to the following:

Select one artwork from your portfolio that you think is most successful. Describe how the meaning is conveyed through metaphors, symbols, references, media and processes. The statement should show your ability to organize thoughts and to express yourself.

*New PSU Applicants must apply to Penn State using the Web application at http://www.admissions.psu.edu. Priority consideration for first-year admission to University Park is given to applications filed by November 30th. The Undergraduate Admissions Office makes all official offers of admission. The decision is based on acceptable academic credentials and a successful portfolio review.
